The Six Goswamis of Vrindavan had been the individuals who revived Vrindavan. Rupa and Sanatana had been direct disciples of Sri Chaitanya they published literatures based on. The goswamis had been disciples of Sri Chaitanya with the exclusion of Jiva who was pioneered by his uncle. The inhabitants of Vrindavan approved sanatana as their Guru.
